Buy you a beer if you can do this with your Austin Mini:

Brian Miller, Editor, has once again created an interesting Pylon Press after the last event.

Please check it out for many minutes of solo entertainment! biggrin.gif

First: Thank you for the decision to line the course.

Second: Thanks to Elliott Speidell for his decision to line the entire course and not just a few select portions.

Third: Thanks to all involved in organizing this event and all the events.

Fourth: Thanks to Dave Hurt, course designer, for the lack of a "sea of cones". The course was much easier to visualize, especially with the course lining (repeating: as is done with ALL NATIONAL COURSES).

Comment: If my addition is correct, there were ONLY 15 TOTAL DNF'S BY NOVICES. That's a total for the entire event, not just the first run group, where it was common. It would appear that AZ. Region has hit the jackpot with the desire to make the courses easier for the novices (and the seasoned!) to follow with course design changes and course lining, and hopefully more of the novices will return to AMP for repeat performances.

Comment: A great idea to have burritos available for purchase for breakfast. Hopefully, it will be publicized in the future (unless I missed the posting) so we aren't trying to force food down at 5:30 in the mornings before leaving the house. They looked yummy -- and I was sorry I wasn't hungry enough to buy one.

Good job all!

The possibility of lining Arizona Region courses has been the topic of discussion for a couple of years. One of the roadblocks has been the type of lining material to use. Some, such as diatomaceous earth, are harmful to lungs. Others are permanent, a definite “NO” from the track owners. Our Chief Solo Safety Steward, Kim Kemper, unbeknownst to me until last Saturday, has spent many long hours researching this problem and has at last found the ultimate course lining element! ohmy.gif

At the Spring Series Trophy Brunch, Kim presented me with a sample of the product, called “Unobtainium”. Now I can stop bitching and we can safely line the courses!! A toast to Kim for his immense and intense research into this problem area for Arizona Region SCCA. biggrin.gif

Unfortunately, at this time, Unobtainium is ONLY located 19.6 miles below the surface of the Gobi Desert in Outer Mongolia. Because of the harsh winters when the temperatures can drop to minus 40 below F, it is only mined during the warmer summer months, which means the demand exceeds the supply — making Unobtainium cost prohibitive. Particularly since President Trump has added Unobtainium to the list of tariffs on imported products.

Just when I thought I could quit whining………I now have to open a GoFundMe page to gather the necessary funds so we can buy Unobtainium.

The GoFundMe page will be titled: “Save the Novices”. smile.gif
