Price reduced....
OK, it was a tough decision, but I've decided to sell. If you're in the market for a fun, dependable and inexpensive to maintain autocross car that will put a smile on your face every time out, please consider this car. You'll be glad you did. Please call, text, email or PM any offers or questions. There's a lot of details in the ad.

Thanks. (Price quoted in ad is for outside public consumption; a special "friends and family" price is available "in-house" here. $5500 )

Yes, registration is open for this coming Sunday, and this is our next opportunity to play with our cars over the summer. Tucson runs a very time-efficient summer event, starting a little earlier and thus ending a little earlier. Everyone is packed and on the way home (or stopping for a beer) well before the real heat hits. Smart. cool.gif

Since I'm from out of town (yes, Phoenix is considered out of town wink.gif ), I typically run Group A and work Group B to shorten my day even more. You could stay and do TO's too and still be on the way home by 1:00 usually.

If you haven't tried a Tucson/Marana Airport Event yet, do it. They put on great events. All through the summer.

By the way, for those who are able or interested, Sierra Vista is looking good for a Solo Event at their Municipal Airport Sunday August 5th the next weekend. You newer folks to the valley, this is the best concrete airport cement anywhere. Smooth, no potholes of chunks missing, but it will wear your tires pretty good. wink.gif tongue.gif

Finally, for these Phoenix Spring Trophy winners, I could bring your trophy with me to this Sunday's event if you let me know you will be there. Just PM or email me (from my profile), and I will bring for you. Thanks. I'll even clap a little when I hand you your trophy........ rolleyes.gif

Whenever I get that "wild hair" about MAYBE changing cars, and I find one I might really, really like, before I go nuts and crazy I do major research. That includes signing up for Autocheck. Like Carfax, but cheaper. For me it has worked very well.

I do NOT like paying $25.00 per report, so I sign up for the next package. So I recently did. But, do not need them all (25).

The one car I was very interested in did NOT check out well. Two accidents and a lien on the title the owner neglected to mention.

So, for a small "donation" next time you see me at an event, I'd be willing to research a few cars for fellow autocrossers. I would run the report and then email you the copy.

Could be for a car you are interested in, or even for the one you already have (if you'd like to know it's history).

Anyone interested? Please EMAIL me at........ autox at cox.net

OK, the poll showed that a Saturday Afternoon was favored, so we listened. Saturday June 23rd from 12:00noon to 3:00pm.

Anyone may come. Not just Trophy Winners. It's as much of a social opportunity/occasion as anything. cool.gif Hope to see many of you there. Bring a spouse, friend, co-driver, "Plus-Ones". The room will hold up to 90 people. plenty of room. It is a dedicated side room.

Any questions, please ask publicly here so everyone can benefit. I may have forgotten a detail or two. It's been a while since I've organized one of these. smile.gif

Specific details in the flyer below, but here's some extra ones:

Easy to get to. Right off the Freeway. Use the SR51 to the Glendale exit, go West to 16th Street, then North 1/2 mile to the Restaurant (on the right). Before Morten.

When you go to Mind The Cones to "Register" for this Special Event, you have to declare in a drop-down "Special Event". No need to do any cars or classing (duh).
  • In the Registration Comments section lower down, enter your name and any guest names there. NO NEED to register anyone separately.
  • If you pay using PayPal, pay the total for you and any guests there. Also, in their info window, please re-list those names.
  • If you pay by check, include your name and any guest names there too. Like a double-check. Yeah, I'm thinking name stickers at the door. wink.gif
  • PARKING: The main lot has sixty spaces, but it is shared. At least half should be available, but there are more on the side and out back.
  • We have a firm CUT-OFF DATE of Wednesday June 20th, by 3:00pm. We need to let Gallagher's know how many to plan for.

Snapshot shown, PDF included.

The Trophies from the past Spring Series will be ready in a few days. Congratulations to our thirty trophy winners from this Series! No, we haven't forgotten. wink.gif

Since we don't have summer events, we can't hand out at a next event until September. That just seems like a long time to me.

So, what we used to do, is use this occasion as an excuse to get together for some food and drink, and socialize/bench race. Oh yeah, and award the trophies. At times they used to be more formal affairs, but those became cumbersome. And expensive. So my vision is to seek out a casual restaurant somewhat centrally located, and hold something simple and inexpensive.

Discussions are underway with Kevin and Dave and Derek, as to what this might be and how it might be structured. Or, if it even needs to be done at all. Some Officers even favor no more Trophies, but something like Gift Certificates instead. So, let's see what the masses are thinking.

I'm thinking if we hold an "Awards Brunch", that it would be on a Saturday or Sunday early afternoon (like 12:00 to 3:00, or 11:00 to 2:00) at a casual Restaurant centrally located. Sometime in June. To offset costs, we'd perhaps charge around $5.00 to $10.00 per person. That would include a simple brunch/sandwich and soft drink/iced tea. EVERYONE would be invited (not just Trophy winners), reservations and pre-payment required. Great opportunity to see each other in a social setting, with no grease or wrenches to be found anywhere. wink.gif

So, I get that times have changed from many years ago. I think it important to acquire your thoughts and ideas (all of you) on how to best move forward with event awards in the future.

So, let us know. I'm especially interested to knowing what some of the newer people to the sport think. (YES YOU!). We do need to keep drawing and involving newer participants, and not just the same old "crusty" experienced veterans (all twenty of us tongue.gif )

I have ATTEMPTED doing a Poll, (something I've never done before). So wish me luck. But if it doesn't offer what you're thinking, feel free to detail other thoughts or ideas. Please be sure that your name is presented in your signature.

We'd really like to know where the current thinking is on this.

Thank you for participating. cool.gif
