For those of you that were not aware, Brian Peters and John Hogan are in Pennsylvania this weekend autocross racing for a $12,000 to win check. Most all of the heavy hitters from across the country are there.

The live timing results are here.

SO wish I could have been there...

I finally made the leap. After years of thinking and fretting about it, I finally converted Barney to Electronic Fuel Injection. It was a pretty large project as I wanted to make sure it would function properly on course...I changed everything from the fuel tank, to the intake manifold, to the headers, and of course the engine management system. Pretty much the only thing I didn't change was the long block, but I did adjust the lifters while I had it open.

I've had it running about a week or so and so far I am VERY happy with it. We are still tweaking the tune a bit but are down to the nit picky things...for the most part it runs awesome. No more loading up at idle, hard hot starts, dumping raw fuel out the tailpipes...it is clean and snappy.

Can't wait to see what it'll be like on course.

Here's a little video a trip around the block couple days ago. The last part is even with the AC on and cranked...and it still idles like a champ and throttle is very responsive.

Digital Barney

Hope everyone's summer is going well. Might try to make Marana once or twice before we start up again in Sept.

What a fun course...great way to end the Spring Series.

Keith Lamming came out from the Kansas City Region to co-drive Barney and here was his 40.466 in competition runs which was almost a full second faster than my 41.369 in Group B. He loved the site and had fun driving my car even with it's wore out tires and malfunctioning carb.

Here was my 40.722 in time onlys

While I had fun at Spring event #3, I did struggle getting comfortable and more importantly finding speed on this course. I have a new tablet and used Solostorm on every run and compared data between each run to try to learn how to use the software and how to learn where I could go faster and where I couldn't.

Best I could do in timed runs was a 46.243 in the cool 2nd run group

Here is that run.

46.243

In Time Only runs I started out quicker with a 45.763 and dropped 2 - 3 tenths on every run with the last one being a 45.086

Here is that run

45.086

I'm not sure how much of that pickup was because of the warmer track and tires and how much was just me being more aggressive?

I know this though, I need to get better at finding speed earlier for sure...especially in big sweepers...if I want to catch up to you fast guys. wink.gif
