I was playing around on Google maps today and noticed some strange marks on the GM Proving grounds skid pad..

Upon looking more closely I discovered they're digging up the track randomly in what looks like an attempt to keep anyone that might get in from running around the facility WFO. The large circle track has random digs, as do most of the other tracks in there...

I know we never had a chance to get in there as a place to run but it sort of makes me sad to see such a cool venue begin to be destroyed..

I had inquired with the new owners (one of the principals is an SCCA member) as soon as GM vacated the site

It turns out that part of the purchase contract with GM was to disable the courses and not let them be used ...

yeah, MAJOR waste of great asphalt ... mad.gif mad.gif

BTW, the google map link above is for 21515 E Village Loop Rd Queen Creek, AZ 85242-8102, not the GM DPG

Perhaps I am missing something, but all I see is a golf course and houses.

i used to work there as a 'test' driver. not much great space at that time. not a great track, unless you want to go in a circle. parking lot was pretty big, but i would think cars would tear it up pretty fast.

and jim is right its on ellsworth and something south of the 60. thats not it.
