This is getting a little confusing! The first post says gates open at 10 with drivers meeting at 11. Then another post says gates open at 8 but no time on when drivers meeting is or when run groups will start. Then I go to the Musselman website and it says gates open at 9 and drivers meeting is at 10. So what is the real schedule for Sunday?

Is there really a $10 charge for someone to ride along with you? Is it $10 for the whole day or per session?

Sorry for the confusion, it has been tough trying to change the start time but this is all so drivers get more seat time. Gates will be opening at 8, there isnt a set time for a driver meeting but i would say around 9, and we will try and have cars on the track by 9:30. If cars show up at large variations in time we can have a 2nd and 3rd drivers meeting if needed. I am trying to get a couple other guys out there to help with tech to speed up the morning process.

See you all bright and early... we will race rain or shine!

Thanks

-Grant

No conflict with autocross... now I just need to find an extra $80.
Pretty sure I'll make it.

I went today and highly recommend it.
All of the corners are similar to autocross obstacles, and so is the speed and length (into third twice, rev limiter on 2nd once).
Tons of seat time. I think I got 100+ laps in (and could've got more, but the seat was starting to irritate my back... and I was almost out of gas). Should be great practice.

Yeah, I really wanted to go out, but just had too much school work to do.

How was the overall level of driver quality? Were you immediately into the fastest run group?

There were only nine people, so we started off in two groups of whoever was ready to run... and pretty quickly it was open pit.

There was plenty of room, and everyone was really good about point-bys when we got to the passing straight (made easier/safer by partitioning the straight with cones). There were a few cars faster than me, but there was so much room I only had to point someone by once. It was a Mazdaspeed3 that was 3s faster than me (and the only other time I've seen posted so far). I'm also pretty sure an S2000 and a white Miata (autocrosser from Sierra Vista... sorry, forgot his name) were slowly catching me.

Wow I really missed out, a 9 person track day is great. I hope they don't cancel future events due to this low turn out.

Hopefully I can make the one in March if they do one.

I really wanted to go to this one but this last weekend was the busiest I have planned for all month. I hope they keep doing them as I plan on being at next months, I have it marked on my calendar.

I just checked the website, and they list that an event is going on Sunday. I will give them a call either later tonight if they are still open or tomorrow morning.

No other events to conflict with this weekend.

Just called and confirmed that there is an HPDE out there tomorrow. I know I will try to make it out for a few laps.

Decided to go check it out anyway. Heard from someone who had a similar issue and it's not that the internals of the cat failed, just the weld that holds it firmly in place can break if the car is raced a lot....

Well I'm out here and there are only two people so lots of seat time. They just finished resurfacing the track with a sealed asphalt surface. Not much tire wear but supposedly less grip than the track used to have. Currently running 1:02.6s.

Well finished out there and had a great time. A completely empty track let me push really hard every lap.

The course also has a new sealed asphalt surface that is less grippy (ie.. times from now on will be slower) than the previous surface. However because of the new surface, tire wear was very light.

In fact the course was so fresh that the RS3s were actually picking up the top coat of the sealant off the track.

Despite the technical nature of the middle section of the track I was surprised to find that it was a big power course. All the major straights come off of very tight slow turns where torque and power can really make up time.

A great event, and I look forward to doing some more of them.

Here are my videos

Fastest lap: 1:02'6
Group of Laps: Session (mainly 1:03s and 1:02s including fastest lap)
