While the Solo Community is all atwitter with visions of Nationals dancing in their heads, I'm glad to report that there is something a lot closer for us regular guys and gals.

The next Monthly Tucson SUMMER Solo Event is next Sunday, August 28th, at Marana. Since some of our National Drivers might be involved with last minute preparations and travel, likely some extra event help might be necessary for this event.

Go to Mind the Cones to Register (HERE). Registration is now open.

Event times and details:

OK, OK, I know it says registration closes Sunday night the 28th at 7:00pm, but real sure that is wrong. Just register by this coming Friday night by 7:00pm and all will be fine. I've found it does help to register BEFORE the event rather than afterward. tongue.gif

Will be a great day, daytime temps are starting to fall, and the summer courses are a "breeze" (pun intended). cool.gif

So, sign up now, and hope to see many of you there.

For those of us coming from the North who typically use I-17 towards Tucson, it will be closed at Indian School to Thomas southbound in the early morning. sad.gif

This INCLUDES frontage roads. ohmy.gif

Be aware, plan ahead....... cool.gif This means you, Harry! tongue.gif

Saw the ADOT nonsense.
Nursing an ailing pup, so its strictly a down and back this time.
Looking forward to seeing Scott up and around in a Mustang?

This is pretty inconvenient timing right before Nationals, but I seem to have left my 12v air compressor and water sprayer in grid. Oops! Is there any chance someone picked these up?

Fun event yesterday. Walking the course I was worried it was going to be a little too Miata-y (not that there's anything wrong with that...) but ended up really enjoying it. The long runs leading up to the hairpin at the start and after the drain collector on the backside certainly helped even things out for us folks in the heavier/higher-HP cars.

Video of my fastest run (44.455): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08gx6HgpV6s

Big thank you to the Harnishes for the laundry detergent and outside shower which allowed me to strip down and wash my shorts after my Nicos breakfast burrito let loose all its saturated fats on my lap.
Still have to get after cleaning my console/shifter area which is now the light brownish yellow color of fats that have cooled. dry.gif

Two good videos there gents. At some point I want to take you up on your co-drive offer Jason even if it's just a TO run. My BMW doesn't have chunder like that. David ruined me with his Vette "and I appreciate it brother". My car is by no means slow but it feels like it after getting out of that beast.

THAT was a really fun course. There were a couple of minor digs, not major pin turns, which was cool. The offset and flow of the transitional sections was good but tricky with speed variation and early setup critical. To top it all off, some gut-check sweepers to really force us to trust the car. I never got the ideal run, which shows(me anyway), that it was challenging! As usual, a class job put on by the AZBR!

Well said, totally agree. Especially that part about "never got the ideal run". That first right-hander was my nemesis all day.

The STR battle was something to behold. Back and forth every round.

Totally "awesome" day. cool.gif (See October Border Region Calendar) More to come! more_cowbell.gif

Great, thanks! I'll just go with plan B for Nationals tongue.gif (Also, thanks for the tire pressure suggestion!)

Jim, let's chat at Sept 10th if you're planning on attending. Have family coming to down later that day so not sure if I'll be doing TO runs but we'll get something figured out!
