Is there any need for more volunteers for the survival school coming up? I finally scheduled time to be available this year, but I'm not sure who's running it...

Perhaps this is a silly question, but since the 2016 rules are listed as "Draft" on the SCCA site I'm curious if the 2016 changes are effective yet or if there's some other process by which they're formally approved first?

I just noticed my car got bumped down a class again from STS to STX.

Anyway - just wondering if the changes are effective yet or not.

Sorry - no pics for the moment, but I have Kumho Ecsta XS 215 tires for my Fiat that are nearly done. 3 still have some tread left and are wearing evenly - one has just a faint memory left of the 2 center grooves (well into the wear bars) and for some odd reason has worn a lot more from the center than the edges. I don't understand that because I always watch pressures & water down my tires..? The edges/sides look the same as the other 3, but the center is almost bald.

Anyway - there's no cords or anything showing, but the last time I brought nearly done tires to EVO they were in the cords by lunch time. I'm thinking I should just replace them all before EVO, but if they'll last thru the day - I don't want to waste what rubber is left either.

Thoughts?

Anyone else seen this?

Besides the 'acid trip' paint scheme, this could be a really cool car. I've loved the old Seven for quite awhile. I'm not crazy about someone making another $100k track-day toy though - doesn't say how much it will cost. Hopefully they're not going the way of Ariel.

How difficult and how much interest would there be in having a driver-specific handicap in results - similar to PAX? I'm thinking something like a 3-6 race moving average of your previous ranking used to make a handicap calculated and applied race-by-race.

This is obviously something that could be made and maintained independently offline, but the reason I'm bringing it up here is because we already have the database of info available to make and apply driver-specific handicaps in the race results - with some codage this could be all done automatically and included in the results listing. There is also the simple matter of convenience for members who are less mathematically inclined.

There are a few good reasons why I think all drivers could benefit from handicapped results, regardless of competition level:
1) You can more effectively compare your own times from race to race to judge if either you're improving your driving or your car setup.
2) Seeing even minor self-improvement would be a nice ego boost to those of us that feel like we've leveled off and/or at least don't have a good sense of how small changes or frequency of practice affect our results.
3) It might be instructional on which types of courses you do better at and which types you could use more practice and/or advice.
4) It could conceivably be used for a "most improved driver" reward each season although I think having a alternate competitive reference for fun would be rewarding enough.

Thoughts? Interest?
