For those of you that don't go to Marana - the competition is pretty tough. Sunday P1 thru P4 were separated by 0.021 seconds.

Steve, you missed Ted.
![]() And for those of you who don't PAX in the 990's ![]() The courses always vary enough that different handling characteristics are accented. They have three or more course designers that take turns and keep things fresh. There are very few who get lost on these courses; the DNF's that occur typically are from over-driving (or in my case putting WAY TOO STIFF rear springs on the Mustang). I must say, a very spectacular spin at the challenging sweeper. I did, however, get a bunch of style points. ![]() There is a July and August Tucson Event, so put on your calendars and give them a try. I don't think you'll regret it. ![]() For those of you that don't go to Marana - the competition is pretty tough. Sunday P1 thru P4 were separated by 0.021 seconds.

Steve Eymann modestly did not mention his top PAX of 1003 on TOs in a larger PAX class of 38 vs the official PAX class at 27 entries.
Really a very exciting course to drive with interesting line choices and braking points to experiment with. I'd term it a technical course in spite of it NOT being a memory test nor having a ton of cones. The number of cones hit by very experienced drivers might be another indication it was "technical". Once again, this was a test and tune for me as I continue to get my car (and brain) sorted. Thought I had one conservative run locked in at a 28.8 something raw before I started pushing to see what needed tweaking on the car. Unfortunately, didn't know that my reference run was marked DNF until I got home. Can't remember missing a gate or anything. So, wonder if I really was OC somewhere, or just looked OC because I took the last slalom on the opposite entry side from most? Ran out of rear sway bar adjustment range almost immediately, so never got the massive oversteer tuned out at this event. Need to change some suspension parts, make some aero changes too for next time. Need to figure out why my car stalled every single time I left the line too. Thought I had that cured last event. Can't wait! -------------------- Chuck Voboril

I interpreted the cone with a pointer as just a turn, not part of the slalom, and thought an optional entry slalom started after that. Reckon my brain was more fried than I thought. I walked it that way several times too and it never dawned on me. Good thing I tried it the "other" way a few times too just to see why everyone else was going that way! -------------------- Chuck Voboril

The map was clear, but visually it was confusing while driving.
There were two versions of a slalom, head to tail. The end of “Slalom A” could easily have been considered as a single gate followed by the start of another slalom (you?).🤭 -------------------- Scott Meyers

Yeah, Scott, to this fuzzy old mind, seemed really clear it was a LH turn then a slalom at the end of the course.
Heard something at driver's meeting there was a change from course map mentioned near end of course but didn't catch all the details. Thanks to US Army, LH ear totally "gone", the other is so-so. -------------------- Chuck Voboril

Im pretty sure our current site prevents us from running earlier. Good point. That said, if we were of a mind to, we could abbreviate the course lengths and complexity (as Tucson does), thereby diminishing setup time as well as running times significantly. We’re already making moves to streamline the AMP morning operations, and note that Tucson is only starting about 30 minutes earlier. I think it could be done. That, or exploring further our Prescott options for a couple of events. Not much support there from the SC. Yet.😉 -------------------- Scott Meyers
