This will be the first local Solo Event of the 2019 Season. Click HERE for all event details.

Santa may have brought you some "neat stuff" for your ride, or you may need something else to do besides watch sports on TV. In any case, consider yourself invited to this coming weekends "season opener" at Arizona Motorsports Park. If you have a safe (and reasonably quiet) car, we have a Class for you. We also have loaner helmets, real bathrooms, ample parking, and lots of experienced help for those newer to this sport.

While Membership is required, if you are not (yet) a full member, we offer "Weekend Temporary Memberships" still on paper forms at the track site. Soon, SCCA will be moving to an easier to use online system, once they figure out how to do that. tongue.gif The Temp Membership does cost an extra $10.

So go to "Mind The Cones" to register (HERE), establish an account, enter the necessary information, and pre-enter. Avoid a line at the event site on the day of. cool.gif If any part of that process is unclear, ask here for help (post your questions).

So, give us a try. There is no safer way to play with your car, and become a better driver, all at the same time.

Again, any questions about any of this, post your questions here. You will get an answer.

(Still a little nervous? Come on out and watch for free.)

Hope to see you there. popcorn.gif

2019 Arizona Autocross Calendar
(Phoenix/Tucson/Sierra Vista)

I have always enjoyed playing with cars. All the way back to my 16th birthday (57 years ago). Talk about a life-long hobby. This is certainly one of those. cool.gif

So below is every "local" known autocrossing opportunity for this coming year. I believe in supporting all autocross Clubs whenever possible, because the healthier they are, the more opportunities we will have to play with our cars. We’ve invested some time and effort, and probably some money into our play cars, so why not use them as many times as possible?

Granted, Sierra Vista for us northern folks is a goodly distance away, and not available for most on any regular basis. But, once in a while, why not plan a special day or weekend and make it happen?

I try to make all Phoenix and Tucson events, and as many Sierra Vista Municipal Airport events as I can. My wife Glenda joins me in those events, as it is fun for us together, and the transference of improved driving skills to the street is unmistakable. Think in terms of being a better, safer driver.

So here you are. Hope you too will make as many as you can fit into your automotive and family calendars.

Well, here it is, almost 2019. It’s been almost three weeks since our last event, and about two weeks until the first of this new year. FIVE WEEKS without an automotive outlet. One can only watch so much football. Almost boring.

Well, almost. There’s the new 2019 PAX factors to worry about (for some). And some of you have secretly been making some improvements and adjustments in your garages. Pretty sure Santa delivered a few new sets of tires, and maybe even shocks.

I’ve been looking over all known Autocross event dates for next year (ours and some at Sierra Vista), and identifying my “get to play with my car” calendar dates. Sierra Vista has their Airport Site Sunday January 13th, we (AZSolo) have one at AMP Sunday January 20th, and no one knows for sure but Tucson usually has the 3rd or 4th Sundays of each month, so I’m HOPING for one there on January 27th (that is NOT confirmed yet).

Don’t forget to sign up for our Solo Social and Awards Brunch on Saturday afternoon, January 26th at 11:30 at Toso’s (see info in other Thread). EVERYONE is invited. Yes, trophy’s are being awarded, but there will be an equal amount of bench racing and fable-telling going on too (AKA: “The older I get the better I was”). And good old-fashioned socializing too.

So, give some thought to the start of the 2019 Autocross Season. It should be a good one.

Hey, are the FRS and BRZ models all 50 state legal, or are there separate emissions standards for California and the other ten stricter states?

Inquiring minds want to know. cool.gif Please share what you know.

Thx.
