If you're really worried another alternate is go rent a cheap eco shitbox and kill their tires to make sure this is something u really like before committing money on parts n tires...

I would rather piss glass the drive one of those eco cars even if was to thrash on...I used to be a drag racer!!

I think I got all I needed...just have to get a small leak fixed(rules say you cant leak) and im heading out!

Your headers, believe it or not, are what it sounds like change your class but don't worry about classing and pax yet. Get out there and learn what to do before you worry about what place you finished in. It takes time to learn what you're doing and so many new people get wrapped up in where they finished and seem to want to be winning automatically. So come out and have fun and get working on fundamentals. Very few parts will make you faster than the 'nut behind the wheel'. I'm in ESP, It's mostly mustangs and camaros/firebirds with a few older Subaru WRXs Another option for you might also be the Classic American Muscle class since you plan to be in street tires. Lots of allowances and it's based on a street tire index. (Softer pax than ESP)

that sounds like a plan......the headers are what worries me....its the only mod I have other than a round air cleaner.........I just don't want to invest money on my car to find out they wont let me run...tires are expensive!!

should I put the old manifolds back on the truck....I don't want to be turned away for such a stupid Mod

I was wondering if anyone would recommend a good set of tires for basic auto crossing.....I was planning on

running 275/50-17 NITTO NT450 110V BW nittos.....only because they give my truck a larger foot print...

are they any limitation when it comes to tires you can use?

I think you may be refering to overall length. Wheelbase is from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear.

my bad...I was..the wheel base is 11ft..132inches long

Additionally, the SSF for a '98 and an '03 Dakota are both under 1.3 so you're good. Make sure you up the tire pressures above what you normally run. How loud is the exhaust? Next event is at AMP, which unfortunately has sound restrictions.

its loud.....I wont be ready till next year to run....need to switch out the tires....

A Solo® event is open to any vehicle that can pass safety inspection,

has the minimum bodywork specified by these Rules, and is properly

muffled, except that vehicles with wheelbases exceeding 116” may be

excluded by the Event Chairman if he determines, at his discretion, that

they cannot readily negotiate the course. This decision shall be made

in advance if possible and included in the advance publicity and supplementary

regulations.

I took this from the book.....my truck is 209'' wheel base, hell my wife's dodge neon is bigger than that....I can pass safety, I am muffled, the scca is kind of ambiguous....I just want to know if I can run and compete...not professionally, just for fun

So long as the truck can fit into the acceptable range of this scale found in the rule book you're good: And locally I'm guessing you wouldn't get too much pushback with it in HS, so long as you don't get too crazy with the modifications, but nationally or other groups might want you to go with with E Street Prepared, because of the headers. I'm not sure if it's eligible for Street Touring classes or not.

what rule book....its my first day on this website
