OK, it's two weeks away, a little early maybe to mention this, but for us out-of-towners actually a good time to start making plans.

Phoenix is not doing any Summer Autocross Events, so there is some down time. Marana does offer some relief by filling that urge each month over the summer. Just had a great relatively cool event there last Sunday. smile.gif

BUT......... Only a few times a year, the Sierra Vista Club is allowed access to their Municipal Airport, a larger lot with top grade concrete. Yes, if you close your eyes, one could imagine what it might be like at the SCCA Nationals, as they too have airport concrete (do they still?).

So, anyway, Sunday August 6th is a little less than two weeks away. Sierra Vista is about 3 to 3 1/2 hours from Phoenix, so it is a drive. Some of us are able to make a little overnight out-of-town trip with the opportunity, with hotel rooms around $50-$75 or so. Some younger-types have done it all in one day, I'm just too old for that anymore. wink.gif Drive down Saturday afternoon, check in to your Motel, lots of good restaurants for a nice dinner, go to breakfast the next morning, then out to the event. Perfect!

SV is also a lot cooler, and is hosted by a great group of SCCA people who know how to put on a great event.

So, if you'd like an extra event this summer, and are looking for something a little special and unique, why not just put this on your calendar and try it out? Give yourself (and even "plus-one") a special treat, automotively speaking.

Wouldn't it be great if a sizable northern contingent from Tucson, Phoenix, and perhaps even regions north all decided to make it down this August 6th? You will be glad you did.

Hope to see some of you there. beer.gif

We can always count on Scott to post the SV Airport event promptly 😀

We are confirmed, running a clockwise configuration so you can plan tire placement accordingly. We got orders for no 1st gear turns for those practicing for Nationals!

See you there.

For those of us traveling to Sierra Vista this weekend, the going and coming looks pretty clear.

Yea!!!!!

Hope there are some northerners starved for a great autocross experience, maybe we'll see a few of you there?

Weather looks great for Sunday.

We're hoping to be there and both have pre-registered. We're going to see if I've made a good decision in this STI.

Another great event from the awesome folks in SV. Partly cloudy with registration cookies and a nice course. Congrats to Alex on Top PAX! Her first at an SCCA event. She found 0.2 sec that I had no answer for! Great folks, great site, great times?

Really enjoyed the course design today, almost as much as the Registration Cookies. The design tested all levels of concentration, from "switchbacks" to more open and flowing. You needed your full driving skill set today. Apparently Alex brought hers.👍

If you wanted a time and place to gauge yourself against some top talent, this was it. Huffman, Zust(s), Lewis, Reysser, Kelley, Bregstrom.........Meyers (😉just wanted to see if you were paying attention).

You didn't have to be experienced to enjoy this challenge. Few if any DNF's, good flow, easy to follow, and just plain fun to drive. Next one at this airport will be in October, if you'd like to see for yourself.

Good stuff. More, please.😎🏁

Scott, we we're commenting from the van on how tidy and smooth your driving was, so yes, you count!

Congrats Alexandra, on just killing it out there. Scores were posted on sierrasportscars.net by the time we left the site. No need to wait around these days!
