Okay NC Miata gurus, what's the widest 17" tire that will fit under the stock fenders on a NC (2013) Miata? I know you can easily run a 225/45-17 on the ND's, and 245's with a little finagling. I just want to know what's the biggest that work on an NC without the finagling or fender rolling, on 17 x 7" wheels with 55mm offset. If you are running a 7mm spacer (i.e a 48mm effective offset, does that make an appreciable difference?

Thanks!

I had a chance to put together the video from yesterdays fun at AMP. It's the best run from the morning, followed by the best run in the afternoon on the reversed layout. Patricia and I had a really good time, despite the heat. The revised prototype Track Rat Motorsports Tow Hook/GoPro Mount worked flawlessly. It's lighter and just as stable as before. Time for production.

Tony Staples is now the proud new owner of Performance Automotive and Tire Center in Mesa. We are at 6322 E. Superstition Springs Blvd, right next door to AutoNation Chevrolet, just north of the 60. Performance Automotive and Tire is also the home of Track Rat Motorsports. We will be providing some gift cards for use at the next awards banquet. Why sponsor a little league team when you can sponsor the local autocross club. Right?

If you want service or prep work done on your track toy, or just routine service on your daily driver or tow vehicle, we can handle that. If you want to come in and work with us to set your alignment up for track or autocross, we have got you covered. We have the latest Hunter Hawkeye alignment equipment and we will soon have a set of wireless scales for corner balancing work. Need to do some fender rolling to squeeze some bigger tires under some smaller fenders, we can help with that too! Want to quiet down the exhaust on that monster, to be legal at AMP. We can help. I don't have things set up just yet, but will soon offer just about any performance go-fast part on the planet via two large distributors. So, if you want those unobtainium caster/camber plates to go with your fancy new coil overs, we will soon be able to get that for you too. I'm not planning on stocking just a couple of lines. I want to be able to offer folks whatever they are searching for, if they don't want to do the work themselves.

Seriously, Performance Automotive and Track Rat Motorsports is the place if you are looking for an enthusiast friendly shop, because it's run by an enthusiast! Be sure to show your current SCCA membership card and we'll give you a free check of your car's vitals, a free A/C check (it's going to be hot again soon, and we have the specialized equipment to ensure your system is operating at 100%) and a 15% discount on most any routine service, even on the family truckster. That doesn't include tires, sorry. There isn't enough margin, quite frankly, and I don't want to compete with the Tire Rack deal that the club already has. To support the club, we will soon be a drop ship installer for Tire Rack. So, purchase your new rubber using the club link!

Even if you don't have any service or prep needs, feel free to stop in, say hi, check out the new digs, enjoy a free soda, water or snack, and talk cars with the car loving owner and car crazy employees!

In addition to all the fun I'm having on 4 wheels, I've been taking Improv classes out at Jesterz in Mesa. My beginning Improv class is having its showcase on Wednesday March 30. The show starts at 7 pm and is absolutely free. However, if we bomb, you might be getting what you pay for! wink.gif We actually have a great time on stage, and have several people with stand-up experience in the class. If you have never been to Jesterz, here's more info on the club:

Free, or 2 for $0. What a bargain! Show your SCCA card for an additional 10% discount off of free! Even more free than free. I hope you will come out for some laughs on Wednesday. I'd love to see the Autocross crowd come out. If I'm lucky, I'll even get to use my helmet as a prop for a game.

Video from the only dry run I got in B group. I actually went a little quicker on my second run, just as the rain started, but raindrops on the lens of GoPro spoiled the video. Thanks to Manfred R. for piloting my new Miata to a clean 31.1 in the A group. Man, I have a lot of practicing to do! What a fun car to drive. These cars turn in so aggressively, and are razor sharp. These ND Miatas are going to be something in CS once sorted out.
