The agenda has not been posted. Is it possible to make sure that Run Group Preference for all classes, as proposed by Dave Howdyshell be discussed and voted on? Also, lining the courses to eliminate the too numerous DNF's that are being experienced by both those new to the sport and those who have been autocrossing for many years.

Thank you.

I fully support both topics as workable and good for the sport. Any news or outcomes from the meeting?

Not sure who's in charge of it, but someone will post minutes from the meeting, yes.

That's on me. Got a little behind on stuff but just put up a draft for SC review, should have published by next week.

I had asked a few weeks ago, apparently we're waiting on some updates being made to the minutes before they can be posted... I'll poke around some more, see if I can figure out what needs to be fixed.

Your intention is to run B group workers out, and then run the karts? Or run the karts with no workers? I have safety concerns with the latter.

I wasn't at the meeting, but my read on what was discussed was that karts were going to be run with no course workers, since the kart drivers we have rarely, if ever, hit cones. I'd be curious to know what your safety concern is with this?

If there's a safety issue on course, who will issue the red flag to stop the kart? No one.

If the kart catches on fire, who will grab a fire extinguisher to put it (and the driver) out? The nearest person is going to be pretty far away.

Not safety issue, but what are you going to do when a kart hits cones?

Like I said, I wasn't at the meeting so I don't know what was discussed... but as course designer I'll make sure to talk with the SSS about these concerns if they don't see this and comment first.

All, regarding this part of the Minutes above:

QUOTE
• Additional Topics discussed: (i.e., Addressing DNF Concerns)
Lining the course, could potentially help with novice and other DNF’s but puts additional burden on setup people. Also, issue with limited storage at AMP which leads to need for someone to bring to every event and take leftovers home. Novice instruction has been implemented to help with DNF issue and there is ongoing feedback/dialogue with course design regarding designing courses to minimize DNF’s. Will look in to the possibility of lining course.

First, thanks for seeking solutions for the DNF issue. Nothing kills a first class Autocross experience for newbies or even the more experienced drivers than one or more DNF's.

I think first choice would be to find a solution without lining, but let's see what effect these other efforts have first.

Should it come to pass that some lining becomes necessary, do know that Dan and Jim at AMP have stated course lining is permitted, and there is adequate storage on site for the lining material and liner if necessary. No need to cart around.

Very much looking forward to our first Autocross of the Fall Season at AMP Sunday September 10th. Hope to see a bunch of people there.

Thanks.

There will be course workers when the jr karts or any competitor are running. There is very limited storage space left in the shed so I am uncertain where a course liner will be stored, a question for the equipment chief and site liaison.

Two things.

First, totally agree with Kim that no cars or karts can be active on a course without workers present. What can go wrong will go wrong. Liability raises it's ugly head.🤔

Next, storage space for lining. I think I've stumbled upon the point of confusion. The necessary storage space for that equipment I was told was promised by Jim, the AMP Site Manager in their metal storage unit. I have Sharon rechecking that now to confirm. I understand that our trailer might not have the necessary room. Now the concern makes sense.😊

In conferring with National office, the entire jr kart program is under safety review. Under no circumstances would it be acceptable that fewer course workers or any other safety process/protocol would be reduced for jr karts, in fact the opposite would apply.
