Close.

STS unless Torsen, then CSP.

Your year is the deciding factor. Donít ask me why, ask SCCA😉

Even with 15x8 inch wheels? I thought wider thank stock wheels put you from sts to str. This is so confusing.

OK. Go to page 162 of last year's rule book and start reading. Look for STR and STS. SPECIFIC cars are listed for each, BY YEAR. Each Class has an exact list of limitations, including wheel sizes. Note that "SCCA" and the word "SPECIFIC" have some of the same letters. wink.gif

If your specific car is not shown there, it does not qualify. STS does not allow 8" wheels for any car in that Class, so out you go.

Here is STR. Your car (and year) is not listed. Out you go.

Next up...... CSP.

Sadly there is no linear logic from one Class to another, such as you assumed.

Some people here have teased me for years (sometimes not very kindly tongue.gif ) because I favor the NASA-X set of classing rules, where there is indeed a progression through their NINE Classes (total). (SCCA has over EIGHTY Classes). Your car starts in a given Class, then can move up or down depending on your specific equipment. A point value is given for each modification.

Matthew,
If you scale back your wheel size, you could run STS OPEN with my son and I. We're regularly looking to expand the STS Open class. Stephen King (who they should actually create an entirely new class and category for, solely based on his driving ability!) has said as soon as his car is up and running, will be joining us in STS Open as well. If all the STS cars that ran Novice or PAX this past event moved to Open, we would have a pretty nice group running together!
