QUOTE (Mike Whitehouse @ Jul 25 2010, 02:17 PM) *
Another good event by ABR at a very nice facility. The surface reminds me of what I remember from AMP. I didn't drive well but that was a good course. It was hard to see if you didn't look way ahead, that was my problem. The car was good the drive. I think I had a 52.1? on the OEM tires.

Ditto. The course today was the best yet at this facility; lots of things to do, yet there was more of a rhythm and flow to it, better than before.

The technical spots were challenging, yet there was plenty of room to make your own errors by trying for too much speed through them. There were opportunities to tie different
sections together by looking and planning ahead, and the faster drivers were able to do that.

Well run, well attended, nice people, nice site. If you haven't been to one yet, your loss. cool.gif

I didn't write times and classes down before leaving, but I think Rock was in the 44's, DSP was too, and Fred caught a 39.x in Time Onlys, and may have beat the Kart!

Seem to recall Kevin Gleaton going very fast in a borrowed STX/BMW.....maybe 44's? I was 49.4 in Street Tire/G Stock smile.gif .

A good time was had by...... most! biggrin.gif

Great job ABR! I really wish I didn't live 194 miles away dry.gif Here's the vid of my fastest comp run http://vimeo.com/13630235

Looking forward to the results...I think I had fast raw time in Open but got PAXed by a DS or ST car...

Shoot Brad, I probably got paxed by everyone! I didn't even remember to pump up the tires. Did anyone take pictures of the first heat?

Thanks to all that came out to the event today. For the most part the weather was reasonable with run group D the hottest.

Thanks to Chris Sparling for quick turning the results. Let us know if there are any corrections.

Thanks to Elliot for the course design. The course was excellent and more in line with a national tour in density/speed. This provided extra challenge for many of us that don't do tour events or don't do them frequently. Look ahead is more challenging at the higher speeds.

The steering input density (inputs/mile) estimate for Elliot's course is 29 inputs/mile as compared to 45 inputs/mile for the 20 June event (Rob's Course) and 44 inputs/mile for the 16 May event (Dave's course). This may be an interesting way to compare courses in the future. This is not absolute because there is some dependence on the shape of the course as to how "painful" it drives. Roger Johnson's course design guide suggests a range of 27 to 47 inputs/mile as acceptable for a rewarding course. Higher than 47 is too busy. The bottom line is that Elliot's course design was significantly less dense than the last two events. I think everyone would agree that it was less busy, more enjoyable yet still very challenging to get all the parts put together.

Yes Ben all the S2000 drivers spun today, but I must distinguish my spin from the others as I had a mis-shift to first gear while going 50-60 MPH! It was an instant swapping of ends. smile.gif I certainly had my share of close calls and drifting today, but with some luck I was able to save all of them.

Good event! Congrats to me, for finally qualifying for a tucson series for the first time in my 6-7 years of autoxing in tucson laugh.gif I think I have a whole lot of two event series under my belt.

Had a great time in the EVO in comps and my Integra in TO's, the offsets and slaloms back towards the finish were a blast in my integra. Takes awhile for the hampsters to get peddling, but once they do watch out! laugh.gif

Looks like I might have been competitive in street category, can't wait to get some hankooks preferably in a size that is bigger than my stock size! biggrin.gif

So the 45.652 was in a DSP Integra? Or DS? Either would change your actual Pax time somewhat. They show you as being in the Evo. ohmy.gif

DSP = 38.759/900 Pax, or DS = 37.663/926 Pax.

Might be time for me to learn left-foot braking......... rolleyes.gif

DSP, I realize they showed me in the EVO (there isn't a way to register for TO's in different car) and I calced using DSP PAX, which is sadly close to STU anyway, only a 5 point difference ohmy.gif

Great course by Elliot and another well-run event from the AZBR. Thanks to everybody that put the time in to make the day happen for the rest of us.

This is actually on my whiteboard at home under 'useful/cool things to do with reg' since this situation seems to happen almost every event.

Would not unchecking the TO box, hitting the back button after the timed registration and change the car and registration for 2nd form to TO, work for what we already have? I thought the TO box was just there so you did not have to hit the back, and change classes and nothing else changed.

Nope, that would change the car on your comp entry. All the info is in one database row, TOs or not is just a 'flag' in each row.

My thought is to move to the model that some other motorsports registration sites follow, which is that a person can have multiple cars, and then can pick one from a drop down for comps and a different for TOs if they want. It's a little more complex, but I think it would be the most *complete* solution.

Put "call Doug and make sure that he didn't somehow fat finger his registration and not get it submitted" on there too.

By the way, I'll echo Brian's comments and thanks for putting on another great event. You guys do an awesome job and deserve alot of credit for busting a hump for your events.
