Sid,

Alex and I built his Porsche as a Street Touring car. It only has Seats, Coilovers, and a Limited Slip in it. All are legal for Street Touring. We may have made a mistake reading the rule book, but we thought that his car would fall under the Catch All Category for STH that he will also be running his GTI in.

“Catch-all”:
Sedans & Coupes NOC (non-sports-car-based; 4-seat minimum; up to 2.5L forced-induction)

Our apologies if we misunderstood, but the 944 fits all the requirements there as it is a 4 seat hatch with a 2.5T stock engine in it.

If this is not the case, will be the car be at least eligible for STU?

Let me know, thank you.

Are STH cars

Alex Pankau 1986 Porsche 944 turbo is not an STH car and if modded should be BSP

No worries. Even at national events cars get misclassified by mistake. Look in the classing section. You will see that the turbo 944 models jump from their Street class CS, right into an BSP class with no Street Touring classing. The non turbo 944 falls into STR. The STH catch all stipulations factor in chassis that are non sports car based aka shit boxes, which the 944 is not (and rightfully so being a pretty awesome chassis back then and even now).

Edit: Actually looking further into it, I would contact the national office, if I remember correctly the Chevy Camaro 2.0 T that runs in DS doesnt have an official street touring home and they allow it to run in STH locally in the catch all stipulation, but not nationally

Sid,

Thank you for taking a look into this for us. So I just want to make sure I am understanding, are we not able to run the car even in STU? We don't plan on doing any nationals racing, we just want the ability for this car to be in a competitive class and it looks like he would be sitting dead in the middle of STU at this point.

Also I don't mean to make things more complicated, but can we move me over to Open AS? I wasn't sure how the classes were going to pan out after removing the PAX classes, but the Open AS looks like a good little competitive group.

It's under 2.5L turbo, 4 seats, I would just ask to keep it in STH.

Dave, can we correct Alex Pankau back to STH open, and Sean Dickinson to AS open?

I think I may have signed up for the wrong class as I was confused by the new classes and sign up website. I wanted to be in DSP OPEN but I wound up in SPM.

Dave, can you shuffle me into SPM please. I'm not sure if it was MSR or me that made the error...thanks!

I noticed there is a 2004 Honda S2000 in each BS and CS, with different drivers. Should the BS entry be, instead, in CS?

Notice the list of Club Officers is missing from the Forum. Under revision. There are openings.

The previous Scoring Chief has decided to move on, and I don’t know the plans for his second in command. Usually that person just moved up in such circumstances.

Bottom line, Dave H now seems to be the Director, is doing Course Design, and apparently now by default has become the “temporary” scorer.😬

So, guys and gals, none of what we do just happens on its own. It seems we need a new Scoring Chief, unless Dave has already found one. And an Assistant.

The Club is always looking for new people who want to learn the ropes on how to contribute to the operation of our events. Scoring, Registration, Waiver Chief, Course Design, Tech, Equipment Manager...... and all of these positions require assistants both for extra help, and in case of date conflicts for position Chiefs. Course and Site setup are also usually in need of help.

So, if you are Tech savvy with spreadsheets and computers and Internet, we have a position for you.😎

Please contact Dave H to arrange. Thanks.👍

So Dave, has anyone called/contacted you and offered to help get the results out?

You do know you can’t do everything yourself, right?

Please share the status and plan.

Thx.
