Is this date still looking good for an event? Are the airplanes gone so we can play? Any info would be most helpful to know.

With the rising COVID Cases in AZ, and the planes I would say it is low probability for July

I would love to come out for this event. Give my new Cappuccino a chance to stretch its legs.

Wouldn't it be easier to just rent AMP for an event?

And it doesn't take much imagination to envision Wiggy doing just that! laugh.gif

Dave M - did you see that Clifton has rescheduled the hillclimb for the fall?

Hi Sharron:

Yes, still planning on doing Clifton, unfortunately Lindsay is in Houston but hopefully she can be back for the event. How about you?

Dave

The thought of racing up the side of a mountain has never appealed to my sense of excitement. When Don raced at Clifton, there was always at least one entrant that went over the side. Never anything serious but four wheels on the ground is important to me! Clifton never failed to provide excitement and fun at the end of the events, though. Screaming contests, motorcycle racing through the pits - you, Dave, would have loved that. We had a Yamaha 125 dirt bike with electric start and the only bike with a light. It was pitch black except our one lighted bike. Lots of flowing beer before the bike competition! One guy was riding on the back of another's bike - he bounced off the seat onto the knobby tire. Had to be taken to the hospital, then flown to Phoenix by one of the driver's who had his airplane up there. We all thought he would never father a child......but he did, much to our surprise! I think there are photos somewhere, taken at the Clifton-Morenci hospital. cool.gif

Apologies to the original instigator of this topic, it seems we have hijacked it to discuss weird slaloming airplanes and hill climbs!

Sharron, you have the best stories! If Lindsay can't make it back here from Houston to do the Clifton Hill Climb, you're welcome to co-drive my Miata. My first engineering job was with the Martin-Baker Aircraft Company .... we manufactured ejector seats, perhaps one of these would alleviate your "going over the edge" concerns?

Now, Dave, if you supply that ejection seat in your Miata, it's more likely I would accept a ride at Clifton (if available). What a story that would make on my headstone! It would begin with: "Here would lie Sharon Roberts, if her body could only have been found after ejection from a Miata owned by Dave Maxfield at the 2020 Clifton Hillclimb. Her last known words were "Oh Shit". biggrin.gif
