Effective January 1, 2008 the SCCA has mandated that any driving participant at any SCCA event must be a member of the club. There are two categories of membership:
1. The first category includes any annual SCCA membership such as an Individual, Spouse, Family, First Gear or Military membership.

2. The second category is considered a Weekend membership for “non-members.”

If you are an SCCA member, then the only change to you is that you will be required to present your SCCA card to registration. You MUST have your card at the event or other proof of SCCA membership.

If you are not an SCCA member, then you will be required to fill out a Weekend Membership form at the registration table. This form has 3 copies. One is sent to the National office, one is kept by the region, and one is given to the entrant.

The Weekend Membership program costs our club $5 for each non-SCCA Member. This cost will be passed along to the entrant. Aside from this additional cost, we are maintaining our 2007 Entry fees. Please see our Registration page to see the 2008 Entry Fees: http://www.azsolo.com/registration.html

The Weekend Membership program will provide entrants the same insurance that Annual members receive through the SCCA. The Weekend Membership last for 5 consecutive days.

Should you decide to join the SCCA, this entry fee entitles you to a credit that can be applied towards an annual membership. The face value of for a Weekend Membership is $15. The face value may be applied toward an annual membership for sixty days. The maximum amount that may be applied is $30.

Our club has worked hard to implement this required change while minimizing its impact to the non-Members who run with our club. Please use this thread, PMs, or email to ask any questions.

I’m attaching a pdf of the Weekend Membership form. There is no need to print it as we will have forms onsite. If you print it and fill it out at home, then you will need to fill another out onsite.

Our Registrar, Brad Owen, is documenting the registration procedures for events. He'll be posting them prior to pre-reg opening for the next event.

I think this is an excellent way to handle the requirements. It helps the new person and doesn't hurt the veterans' (members') pockets! Thanks to whomever was involved in making this decision. Well done !!! biggrin.gif

So if you do 2 events within 60 days of eachother as a non-member "paying $5 each event" then you can join SCCA w. a $30 discount? Sweet.

Will this work if, say, we go to an event in Phoenix, and then two weeks later an event in Tuscon?

I might just let my membership lapse for the sake of a little discount. Makes me wonder how much National really thought this through. tongue.gif

They probably wanted AZSOLO to pass along a "$15" suggested increase/event.. but since our club is smart.. this is another way joining starts to sound better for non's. $$$$ smile.gif

$70 (last letter sent to me)
But, run 2 events in 60 days paying $5 extra each event and it will only run you $40.

It's up to 80 bucks this year. Not quite a tire for most cars, but a few tanks of gas, perhaps. dry.gif

so prior to this announcement there was a $5 delta between event fees for members and non-members, now that delta is $10

what was the other 5 for in the past and what is the extra 5 for now? I'm assuming it's the same thing? what is this mystery thing?

The extra $5 goes to Nationals. The other $5 has been there since before my time.

guess it will remain a mystery, blink.gif (sorry to bust your chops, just seems like a decent question and since there is a change, might be a good time to clear it up)
