I have to ask, is there a place for a couple of Kart users at Phoenix area events? I know they place a bit of a burden on the organizers because of the requirement to run them separately from the "real" cars. But they seem an attractive option to cash-strapped competitors (like me!).
A few hardy souls have run Karts in local Auto-X events but don't seem to have become fully convinced to continue using them. I wonder why? Anyway, I'm considering a Kart! But, if it's obviously a pain in the rear to have Karts compete locally, and giving due consideration to the large fields organizers already have to deal with, I'll give it a miss and maybe just take up ping-pong! Please, all comments (be nice now!) would be appreciated ...... Thanks Dave Maxfield |

The bumps on skidpad 4 KILL most drivers in karts. Just ask Dan H about it! They don't last long here for a reason!

The last time that Mark Huffman ran a Kart at Firebird there were a few places that he actually became airborne.
I would actually question the safety of having Karts on this lot given the settling and such.........(not joking). -------------------- Scott Meyers

I will run mine almost anywhere else, but that lot. I value my internal organs (mostly) and that lot will soon have them liquified from what I've seen. Not quite sure how Dan does it, he must be a better man than me -------------------- |

I would have to agree that this lot would not be "safe" for karts as it is currently. Just witness those who have tried it in the past and bailed out because of the bumps. Brian P, Brian W, Mark H, etc. Dan H is ... nuts !!! -------------------- Dave Lahey - "Any Miata, Any Time!"

Pro Autosports has "purple" group during their track days just for karts..
Or you can run them at PKRA/Tucson kart tracks. -------------------- Jason Miller

I second the motion about not running Karts at the firebird skidpad. I was working the sweeper going into the big slalom for E and I cringed when that Zink came up. It did NOT look like a fun time.

Thanks for the comments ...... I wasn't totally convinced about using a kart but had to explore the option. I have a spine injury that probably began driving rally cars back in the 1960's and 70's so I think I should take all the advice and look for something more ... well, cushy!
Dave, I do keep thinking about Beastie ... (or is it nightmares I'm having?). But no tow vehicle or trailer or space to put them is holding me back .... See Ya Dave |

Dave,
I don't think there is really a safety issue with F-125 on skidpad 4, but it will most definitely beat the crap out of you. I stopped running the kart because it simply hurt me too much physically, even wearing a rib-protector, and with a padded seat. -------------------- Brian Weikert
