Sort of piggy-backing off of Ryan's thread. There was lots of good feedback in that thread and I'm looking for some suggestions myself. Within the next coming weeks I need to start test-driving and looking at some potential vehicles. The two cars I have in mind are the S2000 and 350Z. Haven't seen anything clean or worth looking at around my price range. Wondering if you folks have any other suggestions for me? I'm looking for a clean, quick car. Something with usable torque, and good support for aftermarket modifying. It would be great to have something newer(like....2006 onward), but like I said I'm really open to anything. If there's a good suggestion that's above my price range(15-20k), I will most certainly consider it and can arrange to raise my budget.

Thank you all.

You want usable torque and aftermarket support at that price? I assume you also want something that is track worthy since you posted it here. Pretty much only option is a WRX, STi, 350Z, maybe an EVO or some American muscle. I would also consider a MX-5 personally. A S2000 is a good option but you said you want useable torque...not sure if the S2000 meets that requirement (great car don't get me wrong either).

***Edit*** Just saw you already have a MX...soooo...guess that is not what you are after.

You selling the miata you got from me. I have a car that meet everything that you are saying and under the price you are wanting to pay. I have an 03 Mercury Marauder that is going for sale. It's not the sports car you are looking for but american muscle!!

Autotragic kills it for me. That car can be an awesome sleeper though.

Wish I could Dave...wish I could. Simply have no extra space for a second car.

You could if you knew someone with a 1/4 acre with lots of parking out behind the locked gate, and some of it covered! I guess I could deal with a beautiful M3 out back for a co-drive opportunity. tongue.gif

you most certainly can find S2000s in the 15K-20K range if you are willing to commit to that investment. They wont go down in value much over time. Torque, is not something the S2000 has, but it's an AutoX'r for sure.

Stay away from the 350Z with the Rev up motor- some 2005 and all 2006 models I think. They have oil consumption issues. FYI, the S2000 is only slightly less practical than a 350Z but yeah, it's a small car.

cars to consider in the realm of fun would be (in no particular order of course)
E36M3
S2000
c5 Z06 vette
E46M3
Z4 3.0si hard top coupe
soltice
sky redline
Integra Type R
STC civic - not sure I'd daily drive a tin can like that though.
2006+ Civic Si - they can be pretty quick. Just a wrong wheel drive car. I tucked 245s with minimal fender work.
Mazda Speed 3
Mini Cooper S
WRX
EVO

Lots to choose from!

Just get one of these though and ignore buying practical cars untill you have kids ;-)

The C5 Z06 Vette is starting to look really good right now. I did not know how well that car performed with the silly leaf springs in the back. 7:56 ring lap, possible 0-60 below 4 seconds, and surprisingly good gas mileage. Interior is really ugly, but it can be all replaced.

Quick Craigslist search and they're easy to find clean. Bump my budget up 5-7k and I could have a really killer car. Wouldn't imagine needing any more power than this(but who knows tongue.gif).

A Z06 will perform really well. I had a 2002 Vette with a procharger and was awesome.

One of my friends has an '02, and that thing was killer fun as soon as he changed the run-flats the prior owner had subjected it to...

Not sure if this one is still available, but this one's got everything you'd want for a Street-class car.
