What is our current best local hook up for tires with mount and balance? None of the Discount Tires will even match Tire Rack when shipping and taxes are taken into consideration.

I'm after BFG KDW2's if that makes a difference. I don't want to hear these tires suck either - unfortunately there is not a lot out there for C6s and my runflats are shot.

I'm pretty sure I saw some KDW2s at Costco for a pretty decent price.

Don't bother with mounting and balancing...just get the tires. Then go to Dan Martin for mounting and balancing...best price. Period.

Dan Short I think only deals with the Goodyear stuff...

Give us a call at Carroll Shelby Ent., ask for Chris, he's got a C6 vette and i'm pretty sure he figured something out for tires (with the whole backorder thing).

Definitely don't want another set of Goodyears. Biggest challenge is finding a decent 19" tire in a 295/35 size. I don't need/want anything too expensive as I plan on getting some A6s pending the outcome of my HS experiment.

Jeff, Dan (and Carroll Shelby) can get a lot more tires than just Goodyear, I'd give them a call.

I replaced a set of Michelin Pilot Cups (track tires that barely get by on the street) and the KDW2s are definitely better for me so far.


The 225/45/16 KDW2s are a LOT better riding and new tire grip is just as good if not better than the 245/45/16 cups.

No significant difference in noise so far, but my hearing is about like Rips.

The Michleins dried out and lost grip before they wore out.

The projected life on the KDW2s is about twice the Cups- we'll have to wait to see on that.

I plan on dismounting and turning the KDW2s inside out 1/2 thru their life just like the Cups.
The Cups would not have made it to 10,000 miles if I hadn't always done that.
Hoping for 20k on the KDWs.

This is a strictly street low HP mid engine car weighing 2500 lbs BTW.

To their credit, the Cups did have a little crisper turn in and less radial overshoot than the KDW2s.

Since I have no power in this car, I can't say for sure, but the KDW2s feel like they could put power down better than the stiff sidewall Cups.
