Did I read this correctly? Will our local group be utilizing this class? (It means modded Cobalts won't have to go against cammed vettes and big-turbo STi's etc...)

pretty sure it was ran at Nationals for 09.

Instead of the turbo monster you mentioned above though, you'll have to run against a CAPPED HP FWDs and still run against cars like TAGE's supercharged K24 Civic (Casper) or a CRX with K20 and cut fenders and 285s on the front. Sorry, but I still think that class will be no where for a Cobalt to play. Kinda like sticking a STX preped Cobalt in ST. Lightweight will typically allways come out on top.

We've always run the full complement of National classes as well as our local classes. No one that I can think of has asked for SMF yet, but we should definitely be including it in our registration and timing software if it's not already there.

Your doing it wrong... A Corvette is an SSM car, an STi and Cobalt would be an SM car. laugh.gif

We should probably start by adding ST. tongue.gif

Since the pax for SMF is friendlier than SM.. I will certainly appreciate the option to register that way!

.. not that I stand a chance either way

I wonder what 'mods' are allowed. I may be interesting to look into. However, I think the 'mod' thing should wait... I'm better off leaving the cobalt stock for now and just improving ME.

Now... off to Barnes & Noble to look for "Autocrossing for Dummies"

+1 for waiting on the mods. I've seen a few people with a lot of potential screw themselves over because they modded the car too much before they were ready for it.

I believe it's pretty much the same mods as SM.
